According to the website of Iranian Oral History, “News of the Month” is the title of a series of reports in the site. The reports take a look at the news related to the subject of the site in written and cyber media. What follows are the news related to the month of Tir 1400:

*The Cultural Department of the Organization for University Jihad in Yazd reported of the implementation of a plan for documenting the oral history of the organization, announcing readiness to register and document the oral history of other organizations and institutions.

*The Deputy Head of the Cultural, Social and Sports Organization of Isfahan’s Municipality has announced that the compilation of the oral history of the sport veterans of Isfahan will be implanted in the province for the first time, adding that the oral history has started since the beginning of the month of Farvardin (March 21) and its compilation would be finalized till the end of Tir (July 22)

*The Deputy Head of the Museum of Islamic Revolution and Sacred Defense in Education and Research, Hasan Ashtari said, “The practical training course in writing oral history on the subject of the Islamic Revolution will be held in the presence of experienced professors such as Morteza Sarhangi, Morteza Ghazi and Mohammad Hassan Roozitalab. The course is short-term and concise, and there is the possibility of face-to-face and virtual participation.  

*The Deputy of Head of Iran’s Martyrs Department in Cultural and Educational Affairs has emphasized on registration of the oral memoirs of the parents of the martyrs and war veterans as a rich and effective source in the community, saying that the department is a cultural and serving institution, saying that today our expectation in the section of memory-writing and oral history of the parents of the martyrs and disabled veterans in achieving this important task.

*A meeting on criticizing and reviewing the book “Haft Khan Shostan” which is the memoirs of the clergies active in washing ceremonially and burying those who had died as a result of Covid 19 was held in Shiraz in the presence of Zahrasadat Hashemi, researcher, Mohammad Javad Rahimi, author of the book, as well as Najmeh Tarmah and Hoda Mohammadi as critics.

*In continuation of the oral history plan for Tehran’s Asian Games in 1353 (1974), Asghar Rahimi along with Mohammad Reza Dehkhoda and Atefeh Eslamian has talked to Parviz Siroos Pour, a creative coach in the field of freestyle wrestling who introduced great champions in the level of Olympic and the world.  

*The person in charge of the Department of the Cultural and Resistance Studies of the Islamic Revolution Art Centre of the Province of & Bakhtiari has reported of the holding of an oral history workshop in Shar-e Kord the capital of the province. He said that the purpose of holding this workshop was to train efficient and committed manpower, to collect the memoirs of the pioneers of the Islamic Revolution and Sacred Defense, to encourage the veterans of the Islamic Revolution and Sacred Defense to write their memoirs in the form of autobiography and empiricism. 

*The author of the book “Here is Syria” said, “Iran is in a better position to record the oral history of women of resistance than other countries, such as Syria and Iraq. Accordingly, cultural activists, not only in Syria, but also in other resistance-oriented countries, must have basic cultural policy-making and planning in this field.

*The Office of Cultural and Resistance Studies of the Art Center in Alborz Province with the cooperation of the Religious Organizing of the Combatants of Ansar al-Imam in Karaj will hold a series of writing training sessions entitled "Ravian-e Noor" or Narrators of Light with the presence of prominent professors in the field of memory-writing and oral history at the conference hall of the Religious Organizing of the Combatants of Ansar al-Imam in Karaj.

*The Head of the Planning and Research Center of the Relief Committee announced the launch of an oral history project at the organization with the aim of strengthening executive policies and providing effective support for programs in removing deprivation.

*The Head of the Documents Center of the Foundation for Preserving the works and Disseminating the Sacred Defense Values said, “The sacred defense war veterans are the boxes of the unspoken secrets of the imposed war, and one must listen to the memories of the veterans of the Sacred Defense, adapt them to the facts and realities of the war, and discover the hidden secrets of the imposed war from within these sincere unspoken memoirs.

*The person in charge of the Research Center of the Foundation for Preserving the works and Disseminating the Sacred Defense Values in Yazd Province said, “The first expert workshop on oral history will be held with the orientation of the Islamic Revolution and sacred defense.

*The Head of the Martyrs Foundation said, "If we emphasize the commemoration of the martyrs of the 7th of Tir and the anniversary of the chemical bombing, it is because one of our great missions is to pass the oral history of and memories to the next generations of the Islamic Revolution.”

*The narrator of the book "Mustard Breaths" said: "The book defines the oral history of a combatant during and after the revolution who, after being on the front and being wounded by chemical weapons, this time takes a different path and becomes the harbinger of peace with a stronger spirit."

“An expert oral history workshop for the staff of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army was held in Lorestan Province. The workshop was held in the conference hall of the Art Centre of the province with the contribution of the General Office for Preserving the works and Disseminating the Sacred Defense Values, the 84th Division, the Art Center and the Headquarters of the National Congress of 63000 Martyrs of Lorestan Province.

*The Head of the Center for Public Relations and Information of the Ministry of Communication and Technology Information reported of the release of the second volume of the Oral History of Ministry of Communication and Technology Information.

*The Head of the Martyrs Foundation of the town of Baharestan said an oral history documentary about the parents of the martyrs will be produced with the cooperation of the Cultural and Educational Department of the General Office of the Martyrs Foundation of the towns of Tehran Province.

*The secretary of the headquarters commemorating the 40th anniversary of the performing of Qazvin Friday prayers said: The unveiling program of the stamp, the book of oral history, the behavior in flight will be held in Qazvin in memory of the late Ayatollah Barikbin on the 40th anniversary of the performing of Friday prayers.

*A ceremony for unveiling the book "Oral History of Tehran Traffic Police" was held in the presence of Brigadier General Hossein Rahimi, the capital's Police Chief, Brigadier General Mohammad Hossein Hamidi, the capital's Traffic Police Chief, and a group of veterans and former commanders of the Metropolitan Tehran Traffic Police.

*The Head of the Elite Propaganda Office stated: "It is worthwhile for this glorious collection, in addition to its valuable activities, to deal with the oral history of the clergy, who were influential in the formation of the Islamic Revolution and before that."

*Oral history memoirs of Davood Ghorbani Badakhsh, a combatant and veteran of the Army Ground Forces, are being carried out by the efforts of the Office for Preserving the works and Disseminating the Sacred Defense Values of the Ground Forces of the Army based in the General Office for Preserving the works and Disseminating the Sacred Defense Values of Qom Province and his memory book will be compiled soon.

*The Director General of the Museum of the Islamic Revolution and Sacred Defense said: "Sacred Defense is not just a period of time and should continue throughout the history of the country. The Scientific Association of Sacred Defense has a duty to pay attention to the strategic, basic, future research, oral history and conversion of tacit knowledge into objective knowledge in the scientific and practical fields.

*The Director General of the Office for Preserving the works and Disseminating the Sacred Defense Values in Lorestan Province said, "750 books will be written for the National Congress of the Martyrs of the province which is an important opportunity to promote the writing of memoirs and oral history of the combatants of the province.

*The oral history collection entitled "Bright Path: Oral History Interview with Mansoureh Ra'ei" compiled by Peymaneh Salehi was released by the National Library and Archives of Islamic Republic of Iran.  

*The person in charge of the Public Relations and Propaganda of the General Office for Preserving the works and Disseminating the Sacred Defense Values in Kerman said, " The first expert training course in oral history will be held in order to empower Kermani researchers and scholars related to the sacred defense period in the province.

*Every week with the program "White Narration", the Network Four of Islamic Republic of Iran's Broadcasting (IRIB) deals with the oral history of the health system in Iran and talks to experienced managers in the field of health who have had important responsibilities such as the post of ministry through the yeas far and away about the course of management of the health system in Iran.

*The Head of Literature and Sacred Defense of  the General Office for Preserving the works and Disseminating the Sacred Defense Values in Markazi Province said, "With the interaction and participation of all institutions in the current year, we try to make 60 book titles in the field of sacred defense with oral history issues, descriptive history, memories of combatants, martyrs and disabled veterans, Rahian-e Noor (those who visit the war zones from the time of Iraqi imposed war on Iran in the 1980s), poetry, short stories, novels, literary pieces, photo albums , baby and teenagers, fathers and mothers of martyrs and other issues.

Book Review

Kak-e Khak

The book “Kak-e Khak” is the narration of Mohammad Reza Ahmadi (Haj Habib), a commander in Kurdistan fronts. It has been published by Sarv-e Sorkh Publications in 500 copies in spring of 1400 (2022) and in 574 pages. Fatemeh Ghanbari has edited the book and the interview was conducted with the cooperation of Hossein Zahmatkesh.

Is oral history the words of people who have not been seen?

Some are of the view that oral history is useful because it is the words of people who have not been seen. It is meant by people who have not been seen, those who have not had any title or position. If we look at oral history from this point of view, it will be objected why the oral memories of famous people such as revolutionary leaders or war commanders are compiled.
