Sacred Defense Journalism to be released

Khalil Esfandiyari, Sacred Defense journalist, has mustered his experiences in a volume titled as the Handbook of Sacred Defense Journalism. The book is based on Esfandiyari's 17 years' experience in the genre.
IBNA: This is the first work of its kind to be published in Iran and is to be marketed by Shahed Publications Center.
The book was missing among all Sacred Defense publications and is expected to be attractive to most of the emerging literati in the field, said Esfandiyari in an interview with IBNA explaining his drive to prepare the handbook.
Despite its young age, Sacred Defense journalism has in it thousands of findings and intact experiences waiting to be tackled by interested future journalists, he added.
He went on to say that there were no thorough resources he could refer to for the completion of his work and felt the gap in Sacred Defense literature for the emerging writers. "Maybe this is why the books released in the recent years on Sacred Defense are not weighty enough," he surmised. "The gap needed to be filled in with a book like this."
He went on to say that the book addresses organizers of online Sacred Defense media, Sacred Defense writers, Sacred Defense journalists, emerging journalists and students of journalism.
The volume begins with an explanation of the urgency of covering Sacred Defense events in the media and moves on to examine similar works in other countries when dealing with their national heroes and war veterans.
Later in the book, the state of Sacred Defense journalism during and after the war is considered. Besides, journalistic activities are evaluated with regards to Imam Khomeini and, after him, Ayatollah Khamenei's guidelines on cultural activities.
Goals of the 15 missions of the Sacred Defense journalism, elements of Sacred Defense pages, needs and existence of the news section, launching Sacred Defense news section, introduction of the necessary tools for Sacred Defense journalism, procedures and production of Sacred Defense news articles, introduction of stated and private organization engaged in Sacred Defense journalism, 14 common mistakes in Sacred Defense journalism, and getting to know veterans of the field are some of the topics of the book, further added Esfandiyari.
Moreover, 10 appendixes are added to the end of the book. Some of the appendixes are Imam Khomeini's statements about artists and writers of the Sacred Defense, further reading and introduction of historical books on Sacred Defense, the Sacred Defense chronology, introduction of martyred journalists and memories of some.
