The specialized Oral History Weekly, with the publication of its 700th issue, has taken a significant step in recording and documenting the living narratives of contemporary Iranian history. This weekly, recognized as one of the authoritative references in the field of oral history, has succeeded through continuous effort and scientific accuracy in preserving an important part of the memories and historical events of the country, especially regarding two pivotal events: the Islamic Revolution and the Iran-Iraq War.
The Oral History website, as a valuable companion to this weekly journal, has provided a great service to contemporary historiography of Iran. This online platform not only introduces the theoretical foundations and methodology of oral history but also, by presenting valuable books in this field, has created a rich resource for researchers, students, and history enthusiasts. The books introduced on this site often contain first-hand narratives from fighters, politicians, and ordinary people, thereby illuminating hidden and less-told aspects of history.
However, to reach the position of the primary reference for Iranian oral history, it is recommended that this weekly and its accompanying website take a more prominent role in critiquing and reviewing published works. Deep analysis of memoirs books, comparison of different narratives, and examination of their authenticity can greatly enhance the quality of oral historiography. Additionally, interviews with historians and history narrators, along with publishing analytical notes on contemporary historical developments, could significantly increase the appeal of this weekly.
Undoubtedly, by continuing this path and increasing rigor in selecting and reviewing sources, the 1000th issue of Oral History will not only be a numerical milestone but also a display of the maturity of this specialized medium. It is hoped that, with the support of the audience and the efforts of those involved, this weekly will become the main hub for oral history in Iran. God willing, we will witness the ongoing progress of this valuable collection.
