Oral History Website in the Last Year

Thanks to the audience, writers and all those friends who were and worked with us in 1395 SH, we congratulate arrival of the New Year (1396 SH). Since beginning of the last year and through collaboration of writers and reporters who joined our group, we tried interview, which is main form of activity in field of oral history, to be included more in the site; as we tried all of contents and materials to be produced.

History Scholars to Maintain a Critical Approach

Approaches on Rationalization

Looking at books published on various categories including “Oral History”, “Oral Memoirs”, “Memories” and their approach in rationalization, content volume used to rationalize and references made, we see significant differences all starting from ground zero. In some cases, the volume of footnotes and end-notes presented in the last chapter of the book exceed the main body of content! In case such approach has a scientific backbone then it is good; however, there is hardly an affirmative reason.

Pen and interest in compilation of oral history

Oral history from theory to action and compilation is the result of the continuous efforts of the interested people who have valuable experiences in this regard. During the recent two decades, the conditions and circumstances has caused us to witness the publication of numerous oral history collections inside the country.

Oral History of February 11 Rally

February 11, 1979, refers to the day that Iranians led Islamic revolution to victory with their massive presence in the final struggle scene with Pahlavi reign. From that day on its 38 years today that Iranians come to the streets and rally to commemorate the anniversary of that day and recall their historic presence.

The custom of writing memoir of Ayatollah

Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani passed away on 19th Day 1395 (January 10, 2017), and his political and social activities were brought to an end at the age of eighty two. Hashemi was an Iranian paramount politician at the last four decades, and the most of his memoirs are published as an interview and transcription; these memoirs has attracted lots of addressees. The memoirs are one of the several gainful and documentary references for Islamic Revolution and republic of Iran, and they are available for people.

The first writing of martyr Mofatteh ‎

After learning from his father Hojjat-al Eslam Mirza Mahmoud Mofatteh ‎part of religious sciences literature, Martyr Ayatollah Mohammad Mofatteh ‎‎(June 17, 1928 – December 18, 1979) decided to continue his education in ‎religious sciences with the completion of his elementary school. He entered ‎the seminary of Akhund Molla Ali Masoumi in his birthplace in Hamedan ‎around the year 1941 in order to learn religious sciences.‎

Memoirs and oral history: Opposition or interaction in historiography of war?

Under the pretext of reviewing the book “Quest of Memory”, a meeting titled “Borders of Memory and Oral History” was held on 10th of May 2016 in the 29th Tehran’s International Book Fair. The meeting was attended by Mrs. Ramhormozi, Dr. Shahrezaee and the book’s author Mr. Kamari and me. The subject of memoirs and oral history and their interactions and distinctions was discussed during the meeting and questions and answers were given in this regard.

Women’s Oral History, Needs and Necessities

Oral history, as a suitable means to transfer experience from one generation to another or from one social group with all its processes and elements and since the beginning of feminist activities in 60s and afterwards has always been considered by historians writing history of women. Effective Factors in Compilation of Iranian Oral History

A performance review of oral history institutes with regards to compilation and publication of books in the last three decades indicate that factor including objectives, policies, time requirements and preference of interviewers and compilers have direct impact on the form and compilation of such productions.

The Arab People Committee

Another event that happened in Khuzestan Province and I followed up was the Arab People Committee. One day, we were informed that the Arabs had set up a committee special for themselves. At that time, I had less information about the Arab People , but knew well that dividing the people into Arab and non-Arab was a harmful measure.
Book Review

Kak-e Khak

The book “Kak-e Khak” is the narration of Mohammad Reza Ahmadi (Haj Habib), a commander in Kurdistan fronts. It has been published by Sarv-e Sorkh Publications in 500 copies in spring of 1400 (2022) and in 574 pages. Fatemeh Ghanbari has edited the book and the interview was conducted with the cooperation of Hossein Zahmatkesh.
