Works on foreign POWs to be collected

According to a call for works about prisoners of war of foreign countries, the specialized Azedegan library will collect works on the POWs of other countries.

IBNA: The library opened last week in the Islamic Republic of Iran to preserve books and references on war prisoners. It is primarily focused on the Iran-Iraq war prisoners but has decided to gather works on prisoners of other wars in the world. The scheme is aimed at drawing comparisons on detention conditions of the POWs in different countries.

The library began its work with 1000 books in Persian, English and Arabic.

The resources in the library are categorized based on the detention centers. For example, if one happens to be interested in prisoners of the Mussel concentration camp can easily assess his desired resource in the Mussel section.

Moreover, abstracts are being written on the books for better research access.

Overall, 600 book titles have been released in Iran on POWs.
