Beginning of Cooperation with MKO

One month after freedom from ACC Ali Reza Sepasi Ashtiani came to visit me. I had a long friendship with him since my presence in INP and Hezbollah group. When Hezbollah merged in MKO (Mujahidin Khalq Organization) (1), he officially became member of this organization and began a secret life. His visits in our house continued. He began political and religious discussions in these visits. At first he would talk about MKO positions and ideals indirectly but later he openly expressed the ideas, activities and strategies of this organization and invited me to join it but I did not accept.
Gradually he showed more interest in me and tried to make believe he was agreed with my ideas. He would say his prayers on time and in public prayers he would follow me. He would use Islamic words and phrases, Koranic verses and sentences by holy prophet Mohammad (PBUH) in his talking. I knew this organization’s thoughts, ideology and fighting strategy completely since I knew many of its members in my previous prison experiences.
Ali Reza continued talking about Islamic and revolutionary ideals of MKO and its high goals. He would argue that I had reached to a condition that I was forced to choose secret life in order to achieve MKO security support. After long discussions and hesitation and considering the SAVAK increasing pressure for my life and work, I thought more seriously about Sepasi’s suggestion and finally I accepted to have restricted cooperation with MKO.
From that day on, Sepasi began theoretical and ideological negotiations with my wife and mother in law.
Fatemeh was pregnant at that time be she would take part in these discussions eagerly. She was so young and low in experience but ideologically grown and her marriage with me, somebody who had political imprisonment background, was a poof for this claim.
Although I had warned her that she would see dangerous days in future, but I would do my best to keep her away from any danger or problem. So I had never asked her to enter political activity. But at the same time I did my best to increase and charge her knowledge about ideological affairs. So I did not oppose her participation in Sepasi discussions.
In early winter, after few sessions for reading and discussing MKO announcements and booklets, Sepassi suggested us to begin our secret life. So after consulting my wife and getting her acceptance and satisfaction about such action, we began the new half-hidden life. For some time our residence would change between my father’s and father-in-law’s home.
Later MKO ordered us to begin our completely secret life; but I objected it until my wife’s giving birth to her child.

The Twins Birth

My wife’s condition would become harder and worsen day by day. Dr. Sorour Ahi was strictly nursing her at a clinic in Amiriyyeh Street. My wife and I had persistently asked her to conduct the surgery of my child’s birth by her own.
However, at the time of my baby’s birth, she had gone on vacation and was not there in the clinic. Instead of her, a man was on call there that night. When they informed us it was about 11 o’clock at night and it was about 12 hours that we had been there. It was an urgent situation. The clinic officials informed me that it was impossible to bring female doctor for my wife. I decided to take him somewhere else but the clinic officials impeded and told me that my wife was in critical conditions. They told me any movement for her would be dangerous and they did not let me take her out. There was a fight shaping between us. I went to my wife and told her the story. She said that she would die if a man is going to deliver her baby. Hearing her words I got really angry. I went to t clinic’s administrator and shouting by a loud sound I told him to manage what we wanted or I would destroy everything there. He was frightened and said: “Take it easy sir; control yourself. I’ll handle it soon…” Then he dialed a number by phone and then said: “Lady! Please come here at once…. This man is getting crazy and may destroy everything here…” I got so angry and thumped my fist on the table and told him: “Crazy, is you father not me!” he apologized and convinced her to come.
15 minutes later, at the time that I was so upset and worried, a care stopped in front of the clinic and two ladies got off and entered the clinic.
An hour later a sound of a cry filled the clinic. A lady came out of the surgery room and came to me and said: “Dear Sir! Are you still upset? Take it easy. We delivered a pretty girl for you.” Then she went back to the surgery room. I calmed down and began praying God. About 15 to 20 minutes later she came again and said: “Sir! Congratulation, we delivered another girl for you.” Unintentionally I raised my hand toward the sky and said: “Thank God hundred thousand times…”
The cries of two babies had filled the clinic. I had lost all my anger. I was full of joy and happiness. It seemed that I was born again with them. I was full of energy and love for the future; a future full of questions; a future that was coming and the tomorrow expecting my children.
My happiness was endless. I would swallow that happiness grudgingly if I knew what a miserable destiny had been written for those two little girls. Like all other fathers I wished for a relaxed and happy life for my daughters; I did not know what a great tests God had willed for them to pass. The great tests that mu daughters passed with their might and innocence; however, the misery of those days heavily weighs on my heart forever.

1- Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) was founded by three members of Iranian Freedom Movement (IFM) in 1965. About these three people there are some differences. Mr. Hamid Rouhani writes in the 3rd volume of Imam Khomeini Movement: “In 1965 two members of National Front, Mohammad Hanifnezhad & Saeed Mohsen, and a member of IFM, Abdulreza Nikbin Roudsari known as Abdi gathered together and founded an organization. In the books and pamphlets of MKO Abdulreza Nikbin is not only introduced as a founder, but also not considered as a member of the organization. It is not clear why he is omitted or put away from the list of founders. In MKO history Asghar Badi’zadegan is known as founders of MKO along with Hanifnezhad and Saeed Mohsen. It is rooted in the hypocrisy of MKO.”
